OC Lina reference sheet

My first OC Lina! I designed her for an art club called MilkTeaClub on instagram. I began to dislike
her original design though...so I've redesigned it!

Feel free to draw her! I would be so happy ^u^

Age: 16

Birthplace: Unknown

Personality: Yandere - is sweet and cute, but as she is very possessive about the people close to her she will take rash, irresponsible decisions if she feels they might leave her. She is also conscientious, warm, talkative - yet secretive about herself and her past.

Hobbies: Astrology, Fortune-Telling, Palmistry, Climbing to high places.


Backstory Lina can't remember much about where she was born and lived up to the age of 7. She remembers that it was a rural village deep within the mountains, isolated from any population centre. In the village there were two major families, her own family and a wealthy rival family. Her great grand-mother told her that these two families had had a 100-year feud going on that was caused by some misunderstanding, and both parties being reluctant to apologise due to their prideful arrogance. 

Lina, or Chin-Hwa as her name was back then, was playing in the gardens one day when she saw a dark figure dragging themselves up to the top of the mountains; where the sacred altar was. The village-folk were firm believers in astrology, for this reason they built an altar on the very top of the mountains dedicated to the stars and so they could have a clear unobscured view of the starry sky. Chin-Hwa ran to her great-grandmother, who then alerted the rest of the family, and together they all rushed to the sacred altar. 

When they got there, they found a corpse-like body sitting at the very back of the altar. The body was sitting legs crossed, and was wrapped in dark rags. Chin-Hwa thought it may be a thief, however at this point the elders of her family fell to their feet and exclaimed, "Oh! Great Oracle!" The elders explained how the Oracle was the master in foreseeing destinies. However, the oracle spoke when it wanted to - and not when spoken to. For this reason each member of the family took shifts in staying with the oracle incase she foretold someone's destinies. 

For many nights and days, the Oracle remained silent. It didn't eat nor sleep, infact Chin-Hwa thinks it wasnt even breathing - the great oracle seemed frozen. But then 2 weeks later, the great oracle revealed a prophecy. "A deep-rooted conflict will soon come to end!" The family was relieved, for they were sure the Oracle spoke of the 100-year family conflict. The family also had no intentions on taking the first move to resolving things, which meant that perhaps the rival family realised their mistakes and would come to apologise first. Everything seemed good.

After a small celebration that night, Chin-Hwa's family went to sleep. 
But they never woke again.

The rival family started a huge fire that night-and murdered every single member of Chin-Hwa's family, except for her. Chin-Hwa escaped the blazing fire and ran in her bare feet to the top of the mountain, she thought that the oracle could protect her or save her family. But the Oracle was no where to be seen. 

Panicking, Chin-Hwa ran through the mountains - terrified that the murderers would be chasing her. She didn't know why she was running away, because without her family she felt hopeless. But she kept running. Eventually she came out the other side of the mountains, but there was nothing but empty plains here either. 

She continued to walk, with blistered feet and almost collapsing from starvation and thirst she saw a small cottage. She realised that she would have to take on a new identity from then on; which is when she changed her name to Lina. Before Lina could knock on the cottage door, she collapsed. And when she woke up, she was on a cold floor. A man was standing beside her and looking down at her with a stern gaze. Realising that she was in no state to talk, he gave her some bread and water. After a few days of rest, Lina told the man that she was an orphan and was lost. 

Lina thought he would help her, but instead he forced her to sweep floors and clean the kitchen. The man was a baker, and he made all sorts of desserts. And Lina was not allowed to eat any. They all looked very enticing. Back in the village, Lina lived on the village's self-sustaining farm foods so she had never seen any of these "cakes" before - as they were supposedly called.Lina desperately wanted to try one, but she knew she would be in huge trouble if she took one. 

But after a few weeks of slaving around as a cleaner, Lina began to realise that she could escape. So slowly she started stealing a bit of money everyday, and building up some food supplies. One day, she decided to take the plunge and try one of the yummy cakes. Right when she finished, her boss came in. Lina could tell he was going to probably kill her - from the way he was fuming red and breathing heavily with a disgusted look on his face. But he left the room, and Lina realised that he was probably coming back with some kind of weapon, and so it was at this moment she took her belongings and ran away. 

For several miles, there was nothing but grassy plains. After a while, when her supplies were seemingly nearly finished - she saw a town with lots of buildings. She headed towards this town, and here many people were friendly towards her and offered her help - after seeing her torn and blistered feet. She was then admitted into an orphanage, where she was given meals and clothes and a place to stay. After a while she was admitted into the local school. 

EXTRA: Lina is clingy because of how her family members were snatched from her. 
Also, due to her experience at the bakery - she enjoys eating desserts and baking, but her cakes always end in disaster so she just goes to a cafe and buys cakes from there to eat instead.
